Labor and resources shortage due to COVID-19 outbreak
The are many carriers that are finding it hard to keep up the demand due to the pandemic outbreak and the extended regulations to operate, this has resulted in lack of equipment/driver resources and some customers have been experiencing delays in the pick-up and/or delivery process.
What do we recommend?
These times are not simple, and they are asking for some flexibility from all of us. Try to organize and quote with enough time to meet deadlines and try to extend them as well.

Carriers are reluctant to ask their employees for the Proof of Delivery (POD) signature due to possible cross-contamination
Due to biosecurity concerns around the world and the rigorous processes that are being carried out to avoid cross-contamination, many carriers are cautious and not forcing their employees to request the Proof of Delivery (POD) signature at the point of delivery, looking to avoid the exposure and possible contagion with paperwork or electronic pads.
What do we recommend?
Given the current circumstances, we recommend to all parties involved to double-check the freight and their conditions in front of the carrier and before they leave the facilities. In case you need to make notes in the POD, ask the driver to allow you to add this information. If the driver refuses to hand the document out, make sure to get videos and pictures of the freight with the driver present just to have a backup that will be helpful to you in the event of needing it and have the necessary support to file a claim for any damages or anomalies found.
