MIAMI, FLORIDA, June 26th, 2020- GLT Logistics, in response to the global situation, decided to work UNITED with top leaders of the logistics industry to create the virtual summit “LOGISTICS INDUSTRY UNITED AGAINST COVID-19″, and bring educational content while every ticket purchased was donated to the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN), supporting them in their work to provide resources to non-profit organizations.

The virtual summit was presented on June 16th, 17th and 18th, where the attendees enjoyed from 3 half-days of knowledge, expert opinions and strategies from some of the most respected leaders including Presidents & CEO’s such as Rob Estes- Estes Express Lines, Ivan Barrios- World Trade Center Miami, Ellen Voie- Women in Trucking Association, Rick Blasgen- CSCMP, Federico Restrepo- GLT Logistics, Ricky Gonzalez- Hubtek, Brian Everett- TMSA, along with Drew Wilkerson, President, North American Transportation at XPO Logistics, Nabil Malouli, VP Global E-commerce at DHL, Zach Strickland, Director of Freight Market Intelligence at FreightWaves, Jose de la Roche, Chief Strategic Partnerships Officer at GLT Logistics, Mark Derks Former CMO at C.H Robinson, Adrian Gonzalez, Founder & President at Adelante SCM, Trent Broberg, COO at Truckstop.com, Joel McGinley, Co-founder & Managing Director at Hubtek, among others.

Attendees learned about the market state from diverse companies in the industry, predictions, where to pay attention and the opportunities that lied ahead. They also understood how a new reality reshaped traditional ways to generate revenue, engage new markets, and retain customers.

In the 1st panel “State of the Market”, Drew Wilkerson, shared that XPO is investing in technology to support customers, they created a COVID dashboard to provide visibility and be able to share with them the hotspots around the country, along with relevant news, what is happening with their LTL terminals, and their loads. To secure their employees, they have been providing COVID testing, pandemic paid sick leaves, as well as deep cleanings into their facilities. Rob Estes underlined that safety and visibility are the new norms that will continue as trucking, transportation, and logistics go on. He added that their focus is placed on the final mile program and assured that delivering information is going to be more important than delivering freight. Zach Strickland pointed out that they have been supporting government entities, being one of the data analytics providers for the logistics industry, helping them in identifying potential problems, and making sure they have all the information they could throughout the crisis. Federico Restrepo, shared with the attendees what GLT Logistics has been doing, one of their major contributions has been the “Logistics Sessions”, where top leaders have been sharing strategies to overcome difficult situations and learn about practical knowledge, he also mentioned that they are paying carriers before the due date to aid their cash flow during times of crisis. After this panel, we had other presentations, where other leaders indicated how important it is to develop original content but making sure they’re aligning their tone according to the circumstances and customers’ needs.
